Whim is Shutting Down

Dear Friends and Users,

We've decided to shut down the Whim servers one week from today: Friday, March 9th. We've truly enjoyed our time with you and thank you immensly for giving Whim a chance. I've written an in-depth post-mortem on my blog if you're interested in the details behind this decision. My Co-founder and I are working on some new products that'll be announced very soon and should supplement the ways you connect with friends today on Whim. Please stay tuned for announcments to come.

Best,
Ben Bloch
Co-Founder, Whim

Say Hello to Whim!

Five months ago, we set out to build a way to easily meet up with friends... on a whim! We realized that it just takes too much time and effort to get friends together quickly - usually requiring several rounds of back-and-forth conversations, tediously coordinating across SMS, Facebook, Twitter etc. After many iterations and feedback from our awesome beta testers, we're beyond excited to announce that Whim for iPhone is available now on the App Store!

Composer

Whim lets you quickly start a discussion around a get-together. Something like, "Who's up for drinks in an hour?" becomes an easy real-time conversation with friends who may be interested in joining.

Chat

Not only does Whim make it easy to kick off plans, it also shows you what friends nearby would like to do. You can choose to receive notifications for your friends' public whims or simply access a list within the app of your network's gatherings close by.

Nearby

We can't wait to see where Whim takes you!

Don't have an iPhone? Whim will be released for Android as well in the near future, but friends who don't have iPhones can still be a part of the conversation by using the mobile-optimized web view.
